Swim Wave Starts
Iron Girl participants are assigned swim waves based on their age on 12/31/2019. Swim
waves are made up of approximately 80-100 swimmers and will start every 4-5 minutes.
Swim wave times will be announced 2-3 weeks before the event date. Participant swim
wave times will be noted on individual packets.
The Iron Girl Competitive Wave has been created for our more
experienced athletes looking to really push themselves this year. This group will be seeded
in Wave 1 and will compete for top 3 overall. The recommended finishing time to our
Competitive Wave athletes is 1:50:00. Please note: Athletes registered in the competitive
wave will not be eligible for Age group awards. There will be awards for the Top 3
Participants wishing to swim with a friend or family member may elect to
start in a Buddy Wave. The Buddy Waves will be the last waves. Please note that Iron Girl
triathlons are USAT sanctioned events and Iron Girl participants who start in a Buddy Wave
will be ineligible for age group awards. All Buddy Wave participant times will still be posted
and all finishers will receive a medal on race day! Buddy Wave athletes will be allowed to use
small flotation devices like a flotation noodle, as long as to not impede other athletes.
