Iron Girl Pleasant Prairie Event Information

Packet pick-up includes your participant gift, bib number, and timing chip, swim cap, wristband and participant shirt. 

Participants must have a valid photo ID in order to pick up a packet (driver’s license, passport, Military ID, Government issued ID.) If you’re unable to attend Packet Pick-Up, someone may pick up your packet on your behalf. He/she MUST have a copy of the participant’s photo ID.

  • Packet Pick-up and Bike Racking Rules You must pick up your packet and rack your bike on Saturday at the expo. Please email irongirl@racedayeventsllc.com if you are unable to pick up your packet on Saturday.
  • All participants are expected to attend packet pick up on Saturday in person. This is due insurance liability mandates. All participants must show a photo ID, and all USAT annual members additionally must show their membership card. Per USAT rules, each participant must pick up their own packet. NO EXCEPTIONS. A unique wristband will be affixed at this time which must remain on through to the end of the race.
  • Race Talk at the Expo We will have two course talks on Saturday, August 11, Noon and 3:00 p.m. to attend to get the latest event information, directions and more. The course talk is not mandatory, but will help make a difference in sorting out race day.

  • SWIM COURSE: The swim will take place in the beautiful Lake Andrea, a spring fed lake.
  • BIKE COURSE: Enjoy the bike course as it travels through Prairie Springs Park. The course will be well marked and volunteers to direct you.
  • RUN COURSE: The run course will run through Prairie Springs Park. The course will be well marked and volunteers to help let you know where the turn arounds are. Water will be on the course. Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, Headphones and Dogs Not Allowed On Course. For the safety of all participants, strollers, inline skates, rollerblades, headphones and dogs are not allowed on the course at any time.
Sprint Duathlon Distances: 1.75 mile run/11 mile bike/3.1 mile run
 
  • RUN COURSE: The first run course starts at the back side of the lake, near the swim start, on Park Dr.  Looks for the signs.  Runners will follow clockwise around the lake, back to transition.
  • BIKE COURSE: Enjoy the bike course as it travels through Prairie Springs Park. The course will be well marked and volunteers to direct you.
  • RUN COURSE: The 2nd run course will run through Prairie Springs Park, clockwise around the lake and an out-and-back on a dirt trail. The course will be well marked and volunteers to help let you know where the turn-arounds are. Water will be on the course. Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, Headphones and Dogs Not Allowed On Course. For the safety of all participants, strollers, inline skates, rollerblades, headphones and dogs are not allowed on the course at any time.

  • Transition – There will be 1 aid station inside transition to fill your bottles, as well as allow you to get water on your way out on the run.
  • Run – There will be 1 aid station mid-way through the run

Enjoy the August summer with a triathlon event at Prairie Springs Park. The average air temperature during this time is 70 degrees. Water temperatures for the lake along the shore is usually in 70 to 80 degrees in the summer. Water temps will be updated race week and again on race morning.

The Iron Girl Pleasant Prairie presented by Kenosha Subaru Event will feature a two-day expo and will be held at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. The event expo provides an opportunity to maximize exposure of your products to participants and spectators. The expos are free and open to the public. As an exhibitor, you will have the opportunity to reach out to the #1 buying segment in the world: women. Vendors can sell or sample products, demonstrate equipment and services and distribute literature. Saturday, August 11, 2018

*Security will be provided Saturday night. Vendors may leave products, but Iron Girl is not liable for loss or theft.
Free race day parking is available in Prairie Springs Park! Also, there are remote parking lots available for participants and spectators. We suggest that you car pool or have your family or friends drop you off and park in one of the remote lots. Please give yourself enough time to find a parking space, park and walk to the venue. Give yourself enough time to set up your things in transition and walk over to the swim start. Lines for the port-o-lets get longer the closer to the start of the race, so come early! Keep all of this in mind when setting your alarm for Sunday morning!
  • Age Group Awards We will have 12 age groups: under 17; 18 – 24; 25 – 29; 30 – 34; 35 – 39; 40 – 44; 45 – 49; 50 – 54; 55 – 59; 60 – 64; 65 – 69; 70 +
You must be 12 years or older to participate in the triathlon.
  • Triathlon: The first Overall winner and the top three in each Age Group will be presented with an award.
  • Duathlon: The first Overall winner and the top three in each age Group will be presented with an award.
  • Relay Teams: The first Overall 2 person relay team and first overall 3 person relay team will be presented with an award.
Winners must be present to receive award.

  • Wet suits Rules USAT RULE Article IV Swimming Conduct 4.4 Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. *Please note we will do an official water temperature reading on race morning.

  • Swim Wave Starts Participants are assigned swim waves based on their age on 12/31/2018. Swim waves are made up of approximately 80-100 swimmers and will start every 4-5 minutes. Swim wave times will be announced 2-3 weeks before the event date. Participant swim wave times will be noted on individual packets.
  • Not Allowed On Course at Anytime: Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, and Dogs Athlete safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our event. For the safety of all participants, strollers (except myTeam Triumph), inline skates, rollerblades, and dogs are not allowed on the run course at any time. Bicycles are not allowed on the Run Course at anytime!
  • Sportsmanship: Any participant who conducts him or herself in an unsportsmanlike manner or who is offensive in action or language to event officials, other participants, volunteers, or spectators may be disqualified.
  • Race Number: One of your official participant race numbers (body marking, bike tags, bib during run, and ankle tag) must be fully visible at all times. The timing device (ankle multisport band) must be attached at all times in order to ensure an accurate time.
  • Your race number must be visible at all times Swim – Body marking visible Bike – Bike tags attached and visible Run – Bib visible on front of body
Participants who do the race without their ankle multisport band attached will not have a finish or split time, recorded, will not be listed in the results, and will not have USAT credit for finishing the race. If your multisport tag is lost in the water or on the course, please report it to an event official the moment you get back into transition or finish the race. We will then do our best to get you a replacement and get you on your way.
  • Course Marking: You must follow the prescribed course and stay within all coned lanes; cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. You cannot cross a solid yellow center line for any reason. You must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times. Transition Rules: Spray paint and tape of any kind is strictly prohibited to mark your transition location! If you must mark the ground, use sidewalk chalk. Balloons are also prohibited, as they could become a safety hazard for other athletes. All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral. Furthermore, the wheel of your bike must be down on the side of the assigned space. You must return your bike to an upright position in its designated bicycle corral. You cannot interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. All bar ends must be solidly plugged. And you cannot bring any glass containers into the transition area.
  • Helmets: Helmets must be worn at all times while on your bike. This means before, during, and after the event.
  • Drafting: You must keep at least 3 bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Always keep to the right hand side of the lane of travel unless passing; riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass is not permitted. Once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear before attempting to pass again.
  • Headphones: Headphones, headsets, walkmans, iPods, mp3 players, and other types of personal audio devices are not to be carried or worn at any time during the race.
All participant entries are non-transferable and non-refundable. You may not transfer or sell your race number to another person and we do not offer deferrals to events in the next season or another event in the series. Any changes/corrections/switching to a different event distance must be emailed in ahead of time: irongirl@racedayeventsllc.com
